Welcome to St. Franics of Assisi

Welcome to the website of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, located in Louisville, Kentucky. We are one of 39 schools under the direction of the Archdiocese of Louisville school system, and we serve approximately 250 students from pre-k through the eighth grade.

Founded in 1886 by German immigrants, we have become a close-knit community of families from North America, Asia, Europe, and South America.

Today we not only serve a valuable emotional and spiritual role, but we also enjoy local and national recognition for our students’ academic successes in science, journalism, and more.

Please enjoy your visit to our website as you learn more about us and what makes our school a great place to learn.

SFA Awarded the National Blue Ribbon of Excellence
Blue Ribbon Award

To the Parish and School Community of St. Francis of Assisi,

I am so pleased to announce that St. Francis of Assisi has been chosen as a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence! The Blue Ribbon award is considered the highest honor an American school can receive. By supporting our students and SFA's educational process, you have helped us earn this recognition that's been years in the making.

What does this achievement mean?
Earning a Blue Ribbon designation means that every student, teacher, and member of the larger parish - everyone who plays a role in educating our students - is performing at a level comparable to the top schools in the nation. It takes everyone’s efforts, including our retired faculty and graduates, to develop a curriculum and learning environment that culminates in being ranked among the top schools in this country.

How did SFA earn the Blue Ribbon?
Our school was invited to apply for the Blue Ribbon because our Terra Nova test scores have been in the top 15% nationwide.  Through the application, we were able to demonstrate how we exceed standards in many other areas:  curriculum design, professional development, leadership, and community and family involvement over a number of years.

Thank you,

Steve Frommeyer
